BCU 3 Star Award Inland Kayak BCU 3 Star Training The course aims to provide training in the advanced skills used in kayaking. The award is a continuation from the 2 Star Award, improving and perfecting the basic strokes and learning new techniques such as eskimo rescues, rolling, towing and an introduction to the techniques used on moving water. The 3 Star Award is a discipline specific award and the pre-requisite for the BCU-UKCC Level 2 in Coaching Paddlesport. At the end of the course you will receive a personalised action plan, designed to guide you towards assessment. Pre-requisites: Candidates needs to either hold the 2 Star Award or be at the appropriate level Minimum age 14 Evidence of having paddled on Grade 2 rivers via a logbook Evidence of at least 3 journeys on sheltered water and 3 on moving water which should include short stretches of Grade 2 water via a logbook

Inland Kayak BCU 3 Star Assessment
This is a one day assessment course where the candidate has the opportunity to gain the White Water 3 Star Inland kayak Award. Candidates will be expected, throughout the course of the day, to demonstrate all the necessary skills required to fulfil the award. The 3 Star Award is a pre-requisite to becoming a L2 Coach
The course will be offsite, where there are grade two rapids
Pre-requisites: Before being assessed you must have the necessary pre-requisites and experience.

Open Canoe BCU 3 Star Training The course aims to provide training in the advanced skills used in open
canoes. The award is a continuation from the 2 Star Award improving and perfecting the basics strokes and learning new techniques such as efficient forward and reverse paddling, turns whilst on the move, moving sideways, both static and on the move, supporting, both static and on the move, poling, sailing and an introduction to the techniques used on moving water. The 3 Star Award is a discipline specific award and the pre-requisite for the BCU-UKCC Level 2 in Coaching Paddlesport.
The course will take place at a variety of local venues.
