RYA Powerboat Courses
 National Powerboat Certificate Level (Combined course with Level 1) This course is designed to equip you with all the basic skills and background knowledge to become a competent powerboat driver. No previous experience is needed for this course. This award also forms the basis of the International Certificate of Competence. You’ll learn how to launch and recover from a road trailer, high and low speed manoeuvres and seamanship skills such as man-overboard recovery, anchoring and the emergency stop. Shore-based sessions will include instruction in engine maintenance, practical use of charts and compasses, weather interpretation and legal requirements. A maximum of 3 participants per course

RYA Safety Boat For sailing clubs and teaching establishments, this course is designed to introduce the techniques used in powerboats to provide safety cover or assisting with race management.
During the 2 days, sessions covering boat handling techniques will be combined with practical instruction in recovering and towing capsized dinghies and cats, windsurfers and disabled powerboats. Shore-based sessions will include the suitability of craft, safety, communications systems and rescuing other water-users.
Pre-course experience: you must already hold the National Powerboat Certificate (Level 2)
Course dates for 2010: 13th & 14th March, 9th & 10th October Cost: £200.00 per person - a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 6 participants
